The Geezer Forum Celebrates Kick-off Event
The first Geezer Forum, “Ready, Set, Travel!” was a great success. Geezers and “Geezers in Training” gathered at Lake City Center on Wednesday, September 10th. Remember - Geezers are people in the disguise of gray hair and wrinkles who have a zest for life.
Speakers shared local and international travel ideas, resources for house/pet sitting as well as medical travel insurance. We were only able to touch on a few travel topics and have had requests for more travel information.
Topics of continued travel interest:
Travel companies that provide the best trips for seniors.
Best tours for seniors with disabilities.
Spokane and Sandpoint events, as well as short trips and travel outside of Idaho
Cruises
Finding travel buddies
Senior discounts
There was interest in exploring area waterfalls, as well as a casino and bus trip.
Also looking for a dog walker
We will be putting together a “Travel Tips and Tricks” info sheet. If you have some helpful hints, feel free to share them. This will be available for those who signed up or contact us at the email below.
The next Geezer Forum is already being planned with the date to be decided. Geezers have requested information about volunteer or part-time work. If you know of opportunities for volunteers or part time work, contact the Geezer Forum and share your experiences and needs. You might be just the right to share their skills and talents as well as connect with the community.
Other topics of interest were:
Mobility and equipment to make life easier
Genealogy
Tai Chi for seniors
Food for senior health
